ACADEMICS - BALLPLAYERS - COMMUNITY

Sluggers' baseball revolves around the three leading principles which we call, the A-B-C’s. These stand for Academics, Ballplayers, and Community. We believe that it is vitally important that our players excel in all areas of their lives, not just in sports, and so we place a focus on these three ideas to encourage them to remain well rounded and adjusted players.
Academics. We ask all of our players to submit their previous semester grades to their coaches at the beginning of each season. Players who are struggling or failing in their grades, class behaviors, or other academic standards will be encouraged and may meet with their head coach and parents to determine if corrective action, mentoring, or other guidance is necessary. Most students do not receive scholarship money for college in the world of baseball, or if they do, it is around 10-30% even for the best athletes. If your student is college bound, they need to excel in academics if they want to continue their baseball career and obtain scholarship money to pay for college.
Ballplayers. We try to achieve good team chemistry by keeping the best players on our teams over a long period of time. This typically results in better on and off the field results, in addition to long-term relationships that are built within our teams. We actively encourage our players to use professional camps, clinics, academies, and private lessons to become better ball players, and we provide year-round opportunities for players to remain conditioned and ready for each new season.
Community. We believe that it is important for our players to understand that teamwork isn't just needed on the ball field, but that as young players and adults in training they also need to be actively involved in community service or volunteerism. We require all players to perform five hours of community service per year to help any charitable organization or cause they prefer. Each player must submit a community service letter to their coach showing how they have been involved in community service or charitable activities of their choice.
